Tsujirihei Honten is a matcha cafe in Uji, Kyoto. I first knew about them because they came to Singapore to do a pop-up at Takashimaya and their matcha cones were very delicious.
There are a few matcha specialty shops in Uji (it is, after all, the city where most matcha is produced) but I figured that most people head to Nakamura Tokichi. Nakamura Tokichi and Tsujirihei Honten have very different styles - I find Tsujirihei Honten to be better if you're looking for confectioneries and parfaits and Nakamura Tokichi to be focused more on traditional sweets like warabimochi and such. The matcha and other teas at both places are excellent.
Tsujirihei Honten does provide a much more relaxed feel.

The place is a little hard to find, but nothing a little determination and google maps can't fix!

There are many nice confections on the menu, I usually go for the chafuku mochi and some wagashi. The seasonal mont-blanc, the chestnut matcha chocolate and daifukus are all really good too!

They have both koicha (thick straight matcha) and usucha (thin straight matcha) on the menu as well as matcha lattes.

If you're visiting Nara, I'd highly recommend stopping by Uji to try a cafe or two since it's perfectly on the way!
